November 1, 2023
The November chill is here.
Holiday stresses draw near.
Come to the Ridge for some rest.
A retreat is always best
To help savor the light,
Bring hope through the night,
Give rest and delight
As Advent is now in sight.
With the recent shooting in Maine and wars raging in Ukraine and Gaza, it is hard to find hope and light during dark times. We invite you to join us on Thursday, November 16th for our rescheduled event on "Seeing Light in Dark Times" with Mike Clark. During this HYBRID retreat, wisdom from the Gospel of Thomas will bring comfort and strength to help you face overwhelming situations. Individual reflection and group conversation will bring support and warm your heart. You are not alone as you face the darkness. There is light and love to guide our way.
With all that’s happening in the world these days, we might not know how to be present to the festivities and celebrations, the sadness and the fears. Some may feel like skipping the holidays altogether while others might want to dive headlong into escape. One way to navigate the season’s paradoxical fullness is to hit the pause button and experience the spiritual practice of savoring. Join us Thursday evening, November 30th ONLINE from 7-9 pm eastern as John Kiemele widens our space, sharpens our attention, and reconnects us to meaning by teaching us how to savor and be present to that "something Extra" this holiday season.
If you are looking for a "Sunday Sabbath" opportunity to retreat to the Ridge for an in-person event, there's still time to register for:
And in just a month, the season of Advent begins with Christmas just 54 days away. At the Ridge, we have these opportunities to prepare your spirit for these holy days as we look to Christ through the eyes of Mary this year.
Sweaters and pumpkin spice.
Holidays are always nice.
But take our advice
your spirit pays the price
So stop
and find rest at the Ridge
