Lenten Prayer Journey

Program Details

As we prepare for Easter, we invite you to join Rolling Ridge for an ONLINE Lenten Prayer Journey during the Vesper Hour from 6:00 to 7:00 pm EST, beginning March 9th, the Sunday after Ash Wednesday, for 7 weeks through Easter on April 20th.

Although optional, the book, Rise: An Authentic Lenten Devotional by John Pavlovitz, will guide the weekly Vespers with scriptures, daily readings, and prayers. Click here to order a book.

In this Lenten devotional (a follow-up to our Advent devotional - Rise), popular progressive Christian author Pavlovitz once again takes us on a transformative spiritual journey. Like the human experience, the spiritual journey is not a level path. It is about the falling and the rising. We allow our hopes to rise when we are in the middle of the struggle. We wait for the sun to rise, knowing that joy comes in the morning. We rise to our feet after falling to our knees in desperate prayer. We rise when we are knocked from our feet, persistent in this. We rise to meet the coming day, knowing we are held by a Love that will have the last word.

We hope you will join us as Pavlovitz guides us through the Lenten season.

About the Leaders

Lawrence Jay

As Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Jay guides the vision and direction of Rolling Ridge. As well as working with our staff to ensure the best possible guest experience, he partners with retreat leaders to provide excellent programming at the Ridge. A trained spiritual director and ordained American Baptist pastor, Larry (as he is known by friends) is a graduate of UCLA, Golden Gate Seminary, Franciscan School of Theology, American Baptist Seminary of the West, and the Gateways to God Missional Spiritual Direction Program. He is also Adjunct Faculty at Merrimack College in the Masters of Spirituality and Spiritual Direction programs. Eco-spirituality is his passion (and was the subject of his doctoral dissertation), encouraging everyone to live into the fullness of our connection with nature, God, and all people.
