Release Your Stress At Rolling Ridge

We live in times of great stress and change.  Whether we recognize it or not, our bodies absorb the tension that our spirits carry.  Embodied spiritual practices like yoga and tai chi allow our bodies to move and release the pressure to find rest and greater inner peace.  God has created us as whole people -- flesh and spirit -- with our call to care for the fullness of who we are.  As you journey with Jesus this Lenten season, we invite you fully to embrace who you are in Christ by caring for both your body and your soul.

If you've ever wondered if yoga could be for you, our Day Apart Retreat this upcoming Wednesday, March 13th is for you.  Wanda Winnicki will introduce you to yoga through a Christian lens, incorporating breath prayers, scripture in yoga movement, anointing during meditation, a time to listen to God and a different way to pray. The day will consist of gentle yoga, chair yoga, and yoga nidra where we will meditate on God’s Word through lecto divina. Whether you are a regular practitioner, novice, or total newbie, we invite you to experience the beauty of God and Yoga.

The gentle and slow movements of Tai Chi come from a simple, cyclical rhythm of “loosen-empty-push.”  We invite you to enter this rhythm as Rev. Dr. Hyuk Seonwoo will guide us during Holy Week as we learn to loosen (Lent), empty (Good Friday), and push (Easter) through the Tai Chi movements.  No previous experience of Tai Chi is required as we gather on Wednesday, March 27th and prepare to enter the Paschal Mystery and the climactic last three days of Jesus' life. The focus won’t be learning the formal Tai Chi choreography, but on indwelling more fully in God’s self-giving love, of suffering, death, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

During this Lenten season, we invite you to flow with the Spirit as you engage your body and allow your spirit to release embodied stress.  With Yoga and Tai Chi, may you discover new spiritual practices that open your whole being to be present to God within you.
