At Rolling Ridge, we are committed to connecting all people, God and creation.  This upcoming Earth Day weekend, we invite you to make an Earth connection at the Ridge with an afternoon of eco-workshops led by our eco-partners. This free event, made possible through a grant by the North Andover Cultural Council, introduces the larger community to the wonderful eco-offerings Rolling Ridge has to offer.  On Saturday, April 20th, you are invited to sample three mini-workshops (45 minutes in length) between 1-4 pm.  Click here for more information.

Our eco-partners (left to right): Christine Cohne from Nature’s Place, Emily Strong from the Giving Garden, Kay Milligan from “Nature Play with Kay,” Kent Harrop from "Pray and Paddle," Carol Zoubek and Marie Rudzinsky from “Conscious Composting,” and Rolling Ridge director, Larry Jay

Earth Day workshops include:

Intro to Forest Bathing with Christine Cohne from "Nature’s Pace":
You will be introduced to the Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or Forest Bathing. Forest bathing is a practice that involves mindful, slow-paced walks in nature that have been scientifically proven to reduce stress and promote well-being.

Hands on Organic Gardening with Emily Strong and Stephanie Cross from “The Giving Garden”
Join this interactive gardening workshop to learn the basics of sustainable gardening. Discover how to cultivate your own garden and make a positive impact on the environment.

Kids’ Outdoor Discovery with Kay Milligan from “Nature Play with Kay
This workshop is perfect for families with young children, especially those ages 2-8 years old. Enjoy outdoor activities and nature exploration suitable for kids and parents alike.

From Kitchen Scraps to Black Gold with Marie Rudzinsky and Carol Zoubek from “Conscious Composting”
You will receive a basic overview about the essentials of composting.  You will learn the dos and don'ts of composting, see different composting systems in action, and even have the opportunity to start a small compost bin.

Contemplative Practices on Land for the Lake with Kent Harrop of “Pray and Paddle”
Using the contemplative practice of lectio divina, you will engage in a reflection session on the shores of Lake Cochichewick, exploring themes of attentiveness, reciprocity, and gratitude toward the Earth. We’ll end with a shared time of reflection, responding to the question: ‘What did you notice? What surprised you on the walk?’

Intro to Herbalism and Indigenous Medicine with Todd Warfield
Embark on a sensory journey with a diverse array of herbs. You will be instructed in the uses and benefits of various herbs, especially their unique healing properties and culinary applications. You will touch, smell, and taste different herbs when learning how to identify them, and even try out making their own herbal teas or infusions.

Walking the Labyrinth with facilitator Judy Smith
Discover the practice of labyrinth walking, a meditative journey that promotes self-reflection and mindfulness, inner peace and clarity. As you walk the winding paths of the labyrinth, you'll embark on a symbolic journey of self-discovery, letting go of stress and distractions as you focus on each step forward
.
