Christmas trees are now in the stores. Inflatable Santas are already aglow. The commercialization of these holy-days comes earlier and earlier and crowds our priorities with stuff. To keep focused on the reason for this season, we need to keep our eyes on the Christ and to create spiritual rhythms that allow us to live into the quiet beauty of Jesus.
We invite you to join us on Monday, December 2nd for our Advent Quiet Day as we allow nativity scenes from around the world to remind us that Christmas is all about the birth of Jesus, Love come down, God with us. In the quiet and silence, you will have the opportunity to learn the spiritual practice of gazing as you allow the various creche figures to speak to your soul and invite you to hear God's voice anew. Along with the nativity scenes, we will also offer reflections through children's books and contemplative questions that invite you to listen. Join us from 9-3:30 for a day of rest to prepare your spirit for the busyness that the Christmas season brings.
If a day is not long enough, our Advent Quiet Day also comes with overnight options and spiritual direction if desired to allow you to extend the time of prayer and contemplation. Amid the noise, you deserve time and space to breathe and be. For clergy, for lay people, for anyone needing to be reminded of the reason for the season, our Advent Companioned Retreat and Quiet Day are just what your spirit needs to see Jesus in new ways this Christmas.
Along with our IN-PERSON retreat, we also offer ONLINE space to pause and pray each week of Advent as we prepare our hearts for Christmas. Each Sunday during the vesper hour from 6-7 pm eastern we create a quiet space for prayer, reflection, and contemplative sharing. We will be using John Pavlovitz's Low: An Honest Advent Devotional to guide our spirits this season as we remember that God came to meet us in the low places of our lives. Feeling low? Jesus has been there and will come low and meet you where you are this Advent season. Click here to join us for this free online series.
There will always be too much to do on your holiday list. We invite you to pause, live into the reason for this Advent season, and prepare your heart for Christmas. Keep your eyes on the Christ this season with Rolling Ridge.
