Mandala Reflections for Lent: Art and Spirituality along the via creativa

Take a Lenten walk along the via creativa with mandalas. Mandalas are not only beautiful but can be used as tools for psychological and spiritual growth. One mandala exercise will be particularly geared to self-reflection—removing the mental clutter that blocks our path toward the new life of Easter. If you can put a pencil point to a piece of paper, you are ready to discover your playful inner artist. We will draw interconnecting circles and bisect circles and lines. We will ponder emptiness, connections, and boundaries. We will have a little music and some well-rounded wisdom from people as diverse as Rumi and Willie Nelson. You might even want to take a stroll around the grounds in search of nature’s circular patterns–or walk prayerfully on one of Rolling Ridge’s labyrinths. We will create our own circle of community for the day. Lunch is provided.

Bring your own drawing compass and ruler. If you like, bring your favorite drawing pencils and colors. Supplies will be available for collage and pastels. Paper, pencils, pens, markers, scissors, glue sticks and crayons will also be available.
